A Turkish newspaper: Who cares for objective truth in Turkey?!

Dear Friends,
Ayse Günaysu, a Turkish writer, published an article in the “Özgür Gündem” Turkish newspaper, in which she persists that the objective truth has no value in Turkey. On the contrary, the subjective claims control the public opinion. The author of the article notes that in Turkey it is not important how the things are; it is important how the people think about them and in which things they believe. In this way, the subjective truth takes the place of the objective truth.
Günaysu thinks that Turkey in this respect remains in the mediaeval customs, because the objective truth never has value in the country, the lie prevails everywhere, the lie forms the conscious of the big assemblage and rules, and finally the subjective truths direct the course of life. The author reminds that the best proof for that could be found in the debate opened on the British Blue Book. The Turkish press were of one voice mentioning that a trick was played on Turkey in the matter of the Blue Book, since it was known that (Arnold) Toynbee, one of the authors of the book, had mentioned later that the book was published for propaganda reasons. The (Turkish) public opinion believed this story, while Toynbee mentioned other things too, which were censored and not translated by those who informed the story. In fact, Toynbee added the following:
“The deported Armenians in Turkey were not only subjected to plunder. The deportation was carried out intentionally in the most ferocious way, so that the Armenians give the possible biggest number of victims. This was a great offense committed by the Ittihadists. The work I have done on this matter shocked me to such a degree that even the Jewish Holocaust committed by the Germans couldn’t erase that impression from my mind”.
Günaysu concludes her article by asking the question:
“Who cares for the objective truth?”!
